Build your practice on a strong, traditional foundation. Level 1: Thai Massage Foundations introduces students to authentic Thai massage as a dynamic healing art rooted in Traditional Thai Medicine. This course goes beyond a collection of stretches and techniques, providing a hands-on experience in the supine-position sequence while offering essential cultural, theoretical, practical, and ethical context. Students gain not only the skills to perform Thai massage but also an understanding of the tradition that gives this practice its depth and purpose.

Participants will explore acupressure points, assisted stretches, body mechanics, and smooth transitions using thumbs, palms, elbows, knees, and feet. By the end of the course, students will feel confident delivering a full 60-minute Thai massage in the supine position. The curriculum also extends beyond technique, offering a focused study of Traditional Thai Medicine, including its history, foundational principles, and its place within the broader system of Thai healing practices. This approach is especially valuable for practitioners who want training that respects the original lineage and goes beyond a basic spa-level introduction.

A key strength of this program lies in its comprehensive approach. Students will gain insight into the history and professional identity of Thai massage, the principles of Traditional Thai Medicine, the use of intake forms and SOAP notes, practitioner ethics, and the cultural values that guide this work. The ethics component aligns with the Thai Healing Alliance International code and examines how Buddhist-inspired values like humility, dignity, and respect remain central to Thai massage.

This 30-hour course is open to all skill levels, with no prior experience required, and is limited to 8 students to ensure personalized instruction. Training includes hands-on practice, online course curriculum, a printed handbook, and opportunities to work with client volunteers before the final practical exam. Graduates earn 15 NHPC CECs. The $600 fee plus GST covers lifetime online access, a printed handbook, a school T-shirt, and a certificate.

I offer students two options for my Thai Massage Foundations course. If you live near Saskatoon, you can take the course over two consecutive weekends. This option allows you to keep working without taking time off.

If you live farther from Saskatoon, I’m happy to reteach the first two days of the course on Thursday and Friday before the final weekend. This way, you only need to travel to Saskatoon once for the course. Plus, it lets you finish the course alongside the students who chose the two-weekend option.

Grant Martens

I am the owner and founder of Sirius Health, and I have the privilege of being both a Registered Instructor and an Advanced Registered Thai Therapist with the Thai Healing Alliance International (THAI). I am also licensed as a Thai Massage Practitioner under the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC).

My introduction to Thai massage took place in 2016 during a visit to the Gellért Bath and Spa in Budapest, whilst travelling across Europe with my family. The experience left a profound impression, inspiring me to pursue formal training in Thailand. In 2018, I undertook my initial courses at the Thai Massage School of Thailand (TMC) in Chiang Mai. Furthermore, I sought private sessions with Mr Nat at the Suppatra Blind Massage clinic during this journey.

In 2021, I returned to Chiang Mai to earn my CAPT certification at the International Training Massage School (ITM), complementing my studies with various short programmes at Ong’s Thai Massage School.

In 2025, I devoted another two months to advancing my skills in Thailand. I trained in Thai Face Lifting and Abdominal Massage at Sirichan Thai Massage Learning Centre, Chi Nei Tsang and Karsai Nei Tsang at Loi Kroh Massage and Ong’s Thai Massage School, and completed courses in Prenatal/Postnatal and Pregnancy Massage at Ong’s.
